THE ORIGINAL VANAC
In 1972, King Seiko, characterized by its classic designs, launched the VANAC series, with its bright colors and innovative, multifaceted designs. Today, more than 50 years after its launch, the King Seiko VANAC is reborn with a new mechanical movement and a strong, angular design, inheriting the spirit that infused the original, and opening new possibilities for King Seiko.
THE TOKYO HORIZON
Inspired by the vast city where King Seiko was born, a metropolis that appears to extend endlessly into the distance, the theme for the new creations is the Tokyo horizon, a vista renowned for its depictions in art, film, and popular culture, whose rich expressions change depending on the time of day. The dial has a horizontal stripe pattern and indices that occupy a dedicated ring that is embedded in the dial. The 12 o’clock index and the counterweight on the seconds hand each display the striking silhouette of the letter “V,” the first letter of the series’ name. Offered in purple, navy, and silver tones, each dial reflects the Tokyo horizon at a different time of day: evening twilight, midnight, and sunrise.
A STRONG AND DYNAMIC SOPHISTICATION
Though the case has a strong angularity that makes it look as if it were carved from a block of solid metal, its bezel-less design creates an elegant and thin appearance. The distortion-free mirror finish, achieved through advanced polishing techniques, creates dynamic shadows and highlights, exuding a striking presence. With an unmistakable air of luxury and sophistication, the specially developed bracelet employs a combination of links with mirror and hairline finishing with a construction that ensures comfort on the wrist. In addition, the VANAC is the first modern King Seiko series to offer a sapphire crystal see-through case back, where the signature King Seiko shield is uniquely expressed.
HIGH PERFORMANCE MECHANICAL MOVEMENT
The VANAC series is equipped with Caliber 8L45, Seiko’s most precise mechanical movement currently in production, achieving a stable accuracy range of +10 to -5 seconds per day. Thanks to an improved mainspring, the beautifully finished hand-assembled movement achieves a power reserve of 72 hours, the longest of any Seiko mechanical watch, an impressive feat when combined with the enhanced accuracy. Engineered with the robustness demanded of movements that power modern-day mechanical sports watches, it features exquisite wave patterns on the rotor and bridges, adding a touch of luxury and refinement to its design. Through its combination of high performance and functional beauty, Caliber 8L45 represents the pinnacle of Seiko’s precision mechanical watchmaking.
