THE ORIGINS OF KING SEIKO
With the development of precision timepieces including the first automatic chronograph in 1969, the 1960s was a decade of significant design and technical advancements that laid the foundation for Seiko’s future success in the prestige watch arena. King Seiko particularly demonstrated the company’s ability to create mechanical watches with high accuracy. In addition to its precision, the collection offered a powerful yet graceful design that symbolized the high quality of its construction.
Among the landmark releases were the classic dress/ sport KSK from 1965, prized for its blend of technical excellence and contemporary, angular lines, the King Seiko 45KCM from 1969 with distinctively curved case edges providing a streamlined fit, and the VANAC inspired by the vibrant and bold designs of the 1970s.
THE NEWEST CLASSIC
Reviving the classic style and innovative spirit of the original collections in the KSK, KS1969, and VANAC series, Seiko honors its rich history of timekeeping while endowing each new King Seiko timepiece with modern enhancements of contemporary watchmaking. Equipped with Seiko’s proprietary high-performance mechanical movements, each King Seiko echoes the contours of the vintage models, capturing the sharply defined edges or smooth lines that defined the original silhouettes while enhancing finely detailed elements and adding a modern touch to the regal designs.
