King Seiko KS1969

THE 45KCM

Based on the King Seiko 45KCM from 1969, the KS1969 series embodies the characteristically curved silhouette of the original as well as the signature thin profile, taking advantage of the automatic Caliber 6L35 remarkable slimness. The result is a luxurious dress watch is as comfortable to wear as the original that inspired it.
The KS 1969 series is offered with silver, purple, and green dials inspired by Tokyo, the birthplace of King Seiko. The silver dial is textured to evoke the modern-day cityscape of Tokyo, while the purple dial is made in the image of a traditional Japanese color known as “Edo purple,” which was cherished during the Edo period. The green dial features a gradation that captures the natural greenery that has covered parts of the city over the centuries. Enhancing the beautiful dials, the multi-faceted index at twelve o’clock is designed with a pattern that evokes the feather fletching of an arrow, a feature familiar from traditional Japanese archery while the hour and minute hands are sharply cut on three sides, marking the time with a powerful radiance and a certainty toward the future.
Though the series adopts the contours of the original 1969 model, it reimagines them for modern times with a rounded, box-shaped glass. Thanks to Seiko’s modern watch manufacturing techniques and the slimline Caliber 6L35, the watches achieve a svelte and comfortable thickness of 9.9mm. The watches feature a sleek multi-row bracelet with mirror-polishing and brushed finishing to achieve a quiet sparkle when it reflects light. The King Seiko “shield” appears on the crown and caseback, and the iconic silhouette of the original has been retained, though it has been flattened and modernized.
